JUNKERS G.38

Junkers G.38 probably the first serious attempt to make an airplane capable to cross the Atlantic carrying with a number of passengers ever carried before.
Its creator; Hugo Junkers, a German businessman owner of an aircraft factory ho tried many times before this challenge. was made in 1929 developed of an earlier design called J-40 made for the German air army. Even though anyone else before did it he was convinced of its project and after many problems like the idea of the German air army to do one which could be used also in the air and the water, he bet per this G.38 which only couldn't land in water. It was a very risky bet cause the German air army was going to support economically the project.
the Junkers G.38 was built with duralumin. Its wings made with a multitubular crossbar also of duralumin. They carried four useful engines responsible for carrying the sum of, at least 16800kg the weight in the vacuum. The tail like in many other planes consisted of two symmetric parts to rest the strength of the aerodynamic effect.
This airplane was made also to rate the comers of the zeppelins, they were at the moment a very comfort transport hard to dethrone. But the G.38 did it because inside and for the passengers was the first high-class airplane, as you can see a sumptuous intent. at the same time, another impressive fact is that each wing could carry 3 passengers because in the wing root the aircraft has a height of 170cm.
Here I bring you some data taken from the internet that I think you might be interested:

Aluminum cube.

Hello guys, I´m glad to see you here again. Today I want to explain to you, how is working on our laborious aluminum cube. First of all, you must know why we are working on an aluminum cube. The reason, train, get better, develop and acquire hand skills. As it´s obviously a good mechanic must have a great knowledge of the use of its hands, cause all that you must to do is with them. To do it, we must follow some rules with specifics tolerances, with them we start from a large tube of aluminum, from it we cut many sections. Every student must to take one and then, starts the nightmare hahaha. With the piece, you go directly to the lathe cause you need as minimum one perfect face. Next, we cut the cylindrical piece to give the form of a cube, here starts the first exhausting work. With a saw you must to cut over 5cm four times. This work gives you the feeling of not doing anything. It´s very very slow work, trust me. It´s the same as a snail moving. When you have cut all the faces comes the moment of the file. If cutting you have the feeling of not doing anything or the same as seeing a snail moving, the file will remember you the same as seeing a snail in slow motion. For sure you are going to spend many many hours until you start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and another amount of hours to complete all the cube. Once you have finished this two works it's time to check if you have done a good work respecting the tolerances. When the tolerances are just the size of the thickness of a paper sheet. In this point, the nightmare ends, the exhausting work it´s done. The light isn´t shinning cause that's not all the work to do but you have advanced a lot. It´s very comforting. To continue  it's moment to mark the piece to lateral drill. In a first moment you think that is an easy and fast work but... PAAAM, unexpectedly comes a sudden knock from nowhere. Probably for me, it´s the hardest work. As I said we must to follow several rules to mark the cube and to do correctly the holes. Once we have marked it, we can start drilling. Fortunately, this part is done with a machine if not we will continue suffering the nightmare. The foto above correspond to this moment. A subsection; while I Washington writing, I saw a little mistake. Every work done in a workshop, you must before do it, follow the safety rules, in this case, the mistake it´s that I wasn't using the safety glasses. Don´t tell it to my teachers shhhh it´s our secret hahaha. Continuing with the cube it´s time to ream, that means to pass through the drilled holes the reamer to remove all the burr and impurities and at the same time  polish. It´s incredible the precision of the tools because when the ream it´s finished, the reamer passes through the hole perfectly without "dancing" inside. If you try to pass a simple hair between the reamer and the hole you will see that it´s impossible. Now we have the cube, all the holes with different sices done and now it's time to make the thread. This time there´s no automatic tool again. With a screw thread and your hands in three steps or sizes, you will slowly doing the thread, fortunately, the through holes doesn´t need to be thread. Once all the threads are done the following step is to set all the screws and bolts, in total 20. The screws and bolts are special to break after being set, using a special lockwire. This part for me it´s the best one because lockingwires entertain me a lot. Again we must follow special rules to lock them. At this point, finally, the light it´s shinning, the cube its done. I remember that at that moment I looked back thinking: "finally after hours and hours and hours of cut and polish and all the steps, the cube it´s done". The feeling it´s very comfortable cause after hard work, you have the shimmering prize in your hands.

Yeeees it is !!!

 Can you recognize this airplane?
For the huge majority of the people this airplane it´s a prank, but the day of the innocents was 6 days ago. I´m glad to present you the Airbus A300-600ST Beluga the supercargo airplane made by Airbus to move airplane pieces from the different bases of the company. It´s my duty to recognize that this airplane is not my favorite one, but one of them.
And which is the reason to have this airplane as one of my favorites? Because it´s enormously ugly. Yes, that's the reason.  If this airplane was a human he would suffer hydrocephalus. In fact, his big bump it´s a work of engineering art. In my opinion, it´s a new done challenge. An example of no limits of the human. But now it´s time to talk about figures and data. As I said before the name is Airbus A300-600 ST Beluga. Here are the
figures and data:

  • Crew: two pilots (+one cargo boss in the new version of the Beluga)
  • Capacity: 1.400 m³
  • Load: 47.000 kg
  • Length: 56,2 m (184,2 ft)
  • Wingspan: 44,8 m (147,1 ft)
  • Height: 17,2 m (56,6 ft)
  • Aerofoil: 258,8 m² (2 785,8 ft²)
  • Weight in vacuum: 86 000 kg (189 544 lb)
  • Maximum weight at take-off: 155 000 kg (341 620 lb)
  • Powerplant: 2× turbofán GE CF6-80C2A8.
    • Normal thrust: 120 kN (12 236 kgf; 26 977 lbf) of thrust each one.
  • Cabine width: 4,07 m
  • Fuselage diameter: 7,1 m, in the cargo compartment
  • Angle of wings: 25º
  • Distance between axes: 11,05 m
  • Width of the way: 7,59 m
  • Maximum weight at landing: 140.000 kg
  • Maximum weight without fuel: 133.500 kg
  • Fuel capacity: 23.860 / 32.250 /34.430 liters.
  • Maximum operative velocity (Vno): (Mach 0,82)
  • Scope: 4 630 km (2 500 nmi; 2 877 mi) with a load of 26 t. 2778 km (1.726 mi; 1.500 nmi) with a load of 40 t.
In my point of view, this kind of data and figures are the evidence of a spectacular airplane that governs one of my top favorite places, obviously not only the thing that is enormously ugly it´s the reason to be in my top hahaha.

WHAT´S FLYING ?

Mission impossible (secret nation). Did you see this film anytime? I hope so cause it´s a fabulous film. Today I´m here to show you all the things that appear flying in this film. I´m talking about anything that appears in movement in the air. From a simple rock until an airplane, so let go!

Before all the objects that I´m going to show you, I want to explain that I´m not following any type of preference or chronological order. Having said that, I´m ready to start.

1. Rocks; due to many explosions it´s very easy to see them flying along all the film.
2. Crystals; due to the same cause as the rocks.
3. Bricks; again the guilty or guilties are the explosions.
4. Helicopter; appears when Luther Stickell arrives to help William Brand.
5. Airplane; probably one of the best scenes of this film is when Ethan Hunt needs to enter in an Airbus A400m, a military airplane that it´s taking off and Ethan is hooked in a little door waiting to the opening of this door by Benji Dunn.
6. Motorbike; another great scene is the persecution of Iisa Faunt. During them, we can see some of them flying.
7. Cars; also we can´t forget when Ethan and Benji, doing the persecution, they fly with the BMW M5 ending in a big and spectacular crash.
8. Bullets; if you are a fan of this saga you will know that it's completely unnecessary an example in the film of a bullet flying because it occurs hundreds of times along the film.
9. Smoke; in this case, I want to remember the moment when the MI6 team catches Solomon Lane in a transparent box and to sedate Solomon, they use a sedative suspended in air, like a vapor or smoke.
10. Tool; used by Iisa Faust to hurt an enemy and try to liberate Ethan.
11. Blood; as the actors fly, if they are hurt the blood also fly with them.
12. Water; falling from the hair of Iisa when she is leaving the pool. Also when Ethan must jump into the refrigeration system among other cases.
